Dalhousie tops standings at Amby Legere Invitational
(SAINT JOHN, N.B.) Dalhousie finished first in the women's, men's and combined team standings at the Amby Legere Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John.
The two-day meet, hosted by the UNB REDS, was the fourth event on the AUS swimming schedule. Dalhousie swimmers won 31 of 36 events over the weekend. UNB captured five event wins, while Mount Allison recorded multiple podium finishes.
Dalhousie opened the meet Saturday by winning 15 of 18 events to take early control of the team standings. Emilie Schofield and Cameron Carlyle won the women's and men's 200-metre individual medley events, respectively. Emma Carrier Clarke won the women's 200-metre freestyle, while Morgan Sparkes topped the men's race.
Alexia Morgans won the women's 200-metre butterfly and 800-metre freestyle, and David Harvie took the men's 1,500-metre freestyle. Dalhousie also won both 4x50-metre relays.
UNB earned three victories on Saturday. Blake Kingston won the men's 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre breaststroke, while Camden Reid captured the men's 200-metre butterfly.
On Sunday, Dalhousie won 16 of 18 events. Carrier Clarke won the women's 400-metre and 100-metre freestyle events, while Sparkes won the men's 400-metre freestyle. Adelaide Young won the women's 200-metre backstroke and Isaac Bahler won the men's race.
Schofield added a win in the women's 400-metre individual medley, while Alexander Hussey won the men's event. Nolan Quinn won the men's 50-metre backstroke and 100-metre butterfly, and Sara Bennett won the women's 100-metre butterfly.
Kingston accounted for both UNB victories on Sunday, winning the men's 200-metre and 50-metre breaststroke to finish the meet with three individual wins.
Dalhousie closed the meet by winning both the women's and men's 4x100-metre medley relays.
