UNB's Talia Nixon and Acadia's Thomas Couture named East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athletes of the Week

Talia Nixon from the UNB REDS women’s volleyball team is the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 16, 2025.

A third-year arts student from Fredericton, N.B., Nixon was a major contributor as the REDS scored a pair of straight-sets wins over the Memorial Sea-Hawks this past weekend.

In Friday’s 3-0 victory, Nixon registered a game-high 27 assists, along with three kills and five digs.

On Saturday, in another 3-0 win, Nixon put up 28 assists, again a match-high, along with five kills, four digs, and a block.

Name: Thomas Couture
University: Acadia University
Sport: Men’s Hockey
Hometown: Lévis, Que.
Position: Goaltender
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Business Administration

Thomas Couture, a goaltender with the Acadia Axemen hockey team, has been named the East Coast Lifestyle AUS Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 16, 2025.

A third-year business student from Lévis, Que., Couture earned two road wins while making 60 saves over the weekend.

He stopped 32 shots in Friday’s 3–2 victory over UNB in a battle for first place, helping the Axemen move to the top of the AUS standings. Couture also played a key role on the penalty kill, limiting opponents to 1-for-10 on the power play, including six UNB opportunities on Friday. He was named Player of the Game for his efforts.

On Saturday, he went on to make another 28 saves in a 3-2 victory over the UPEI Panthers.

Throughout the 2025-26 season, each East Coast Lifestyle AUS Athlete of the Week will receive a $50 ECL gift card and a signed certificate, courtesy of East Coast Lifestyle and Atlantic University Sport.
